🌱 What You’ll Need
-
Broccoli Seeds – You can buy ours here
- Pot or container with drainage holes
-
Tray or saucer underneath (optional)
-
Growing medium – soil or seed-raising mix
-
Spray bottle or fine watering can
-
Light source – outdoors is preferred but a sunny windowsill or LED grow light will work too.
🪴 How to Grow — Step by Step
1. Prepare the Tray
- Fill your pot with your growing medium, the pot should be minimum 3cm deep but no need to be more than 10cm.
- Smooth the surface without compacting it too much.
2. Sow Seeds
- Scatter broccoli seeds evenly over the surface.
- Lightly press them into the medium for good contact.
- Cover lightly with 1mm or less of soil.
- Mist the seeds gently with water.
- The medium should feel like a wrung-out sponge — damp, not soggy.
3. Place in Light
- Place your tray in a bright spot right away.
- Outdoors is preferred, close to your house. A bright windowsill can work. You can also use a grow light for 12–16 hours/day.
4. Water Daily
- Mist the surface once or twice a day to keep it evenly moist.
5. Harvest (Day 7–10)
- When your broccoli microgreens are ~5–7 cm tall and the leaves have opened, they’re ready!
- Use scissors to snip them just above the soil line.
- Rinse gently and pat dry before storing in the fridge.
🥗 Use & Storage
- Sprinkle on salads, tacos, soups, or avocado toast.
- Add to smoothies for a sulforaphane boost.
- Store dry in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 10 days.
