How it began
Hi, my name is Matt and I’m a plantoholic.
My obsession with plants began with a Venus Fly Trap from a market at the
tender age of 12. This quickly snowballed into cacti and succulents and over
the last decade I have amassed a collection of thousands of them. My parents were thankfully supportive of this hobby and built me a greenhouse which enabled me even further.
I have spent countless hours walking through local parks and bushland
photographing interesting plants and fungi. Everything I found I would attempt to identify and learn about. Finding all these weird and wonderful mushrooms sparked my interest in fungi and I quickly learned how to cultivate edible and medicinal species at home.
As I grew more plants I became infatuated with their edible and medicinal properties. From that tasty tomato to calming chamomile, I wanted to taste and try everything. After moving out of home and starting a family with my beautiful wife I was able to finally have my own garden. Although my space was only a small unit I managed to grow hundreds of species of plants. Edible, medicinal and the cacti and succulents that will always have my heart.
My goal is to show people how easy it is to grow edible and medicinal plants no matter what kind of space you have.
